Event: 1st Makeup In Nigeria Conference (MINC)
5:48 AMHola Bellas,
Its been a couple of days since the 1st Makeup In Makeup in Nigeria Conference; and we still can't keep quiet about it!!! I've had people all over call me asking for their pictures and wanting to know how they can get what....in one word; it was a marvelous experience. I freaked out on the day of, cos I realized that my memory card was not it its slot on my camera (amateurish photographer)...thank to Khuraira who saved my blogging career(wide grin).
The event which featured veterans in the makeup/beauty industry with over 250 years experience both within and outside Nigeria. It also featured masterclasses, motivational speeches and award presentations. Some of the speakers were Tara Fela-Durotoye (House of Tara), Mrs Opral Benson, Buntricia Bastian, Mr Bayo Haastrup (Ijade Egbin), Khuraira Musa (Khuraira Cosmetics), Lola Maja (Sacred Beauty), Bimpe Onakoya (Maybelline Nigeria), Eni Balogun (Lise Beauty), Joy Adenuga, Bolanle Feyita-Okusanya (MakeupPro), Funmilayo Irantiola (Abeke Makeovers) and many more!!!
The event which kicked off at 9am after registration had in attendance over 500 makeup and beauty lovers from around Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana(unbelievable, right??) It was a frenzy at the registration desk with everyone wanting to get the best of the conference. By 9:30am, the hall was jammed beyond seating like people were literally standing at the back of the hall--I gave up my seat somewhere and was mostly outside at the exhibitors stand.
Keynote address was given by Tara Durotoye and the event kicked off with the keynote speech and the conference was declared open. Idorenyen Enang of L'Oreal Nigeria gave his lecture and had the participants motivated. Then the masterclasses began in earnest. Our beauty professionals are just....da bomb!!!! Bimpe Onakoya, Bunmi Oyeneyin, Joy Adenuga, Khuraira Musa, Bayo Haastrup, Bolanle Okusanya, Eni Balogun, Buntricia Bastian, Lola Maja---all masters at their games killed it with various techniques; shadow application, highlighting and contouring, gele tying, high fashion makeup were all covered in each of the sessions.
Lola Maja's alter ego as Mama Lola Maja when she transfromed herself to an older looking woman was the highest point of the classes as attendee weren't sure if it was actually her. Khuraira Musa stunned everyone with the Khuraira High Definition foundation which is a lightweight full coverage foundation that astounded everyone!!! Bayo Haastrup's high fashion makeup with some extreme eyebrows was a jaw breaker, Funmi Irantiola kept everyone asking for more with her gele techniques. At this point I say if you weren't there....*sticks out tongue*booyah!!!
The event was definitely a success for the first of its kind, however I know the next one would even be better. Thumbs up to the project manager and my dear friend(who has looked out for me in more ways than one) Teniolami Adejuwon of Beauty By Nature (BBN).
Also there was a lot of freebies with makeup brands exhibiting their products---what better way to have you products in the market than to makeup artists?? Some of the brands that were present are; Sleek Studio, Innvative Marketing (Wholesalers for Milani, Jordana, Tint Cosmetics), Zaron Makeup, Khuraira Cosmetics, Arewa Cosmetics, Lindoirs, Switch Cosmetics, Kuddy Cosmetics, Suzie Beauty (Kenya), House of Tara, Maybelline, Lise Beauty Range and Sacred Beauty.
I had fun at MINC; mingling with my colleagues, friends and readers, as always it was a pleasure to see Kunbi Fashakin (Sit Pretty), Tutu Akinlolu (Awelewa), Mobola Bolaji (GlamoSphere), Love Olaleye (Flawless Touch), Diana (Belleza Couture), MaryJane(Zaron), Yewande Peregrino (Beyond Faces) and many more.
I'm excited and can't wait till the next MIN conference...fingers crossed, I'll be a mini veteran by then( honestly, I don't know how I come up with this stuff).
Till my next post.....Stay MINCed
