Review: Social Media Made Me Buy

7:22 PM

Hey Pretties,

I've been thinking of how to write a long love letter to apologize for being absent these past few weeks, but words fail me. I've been poking my fingers in a few upcoming projects I can't wait to share it all with you guys in due time. Meanwhile, I'm going to share pictures and videos of my last vacation with you soon--- I pledged I was going to do that since that's one of the reasons I've been away.

Today's post is dedicated to everyone(not exempting myself) who has been influenced to purchase beauty/makeup products via social media, be it Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, SnapChat, Blogger (this blog inclusive) and others. For this post, I'll be discussing a few items I recently purchased that were influenced by their popularity on a few social media sites.
While I've had a lot good reviews on products that have been influenced by social media, I've also had a few not so good ones which I must confess I was so disappointed considering the amount and period for these products. One of such products is the Anastasia BH Contour Cream Kit, I read almost all reviews and watched numerous videos about this product which 'gingered' me to buy it online--needless to say, I was so disappointed because it was so chalky and relatively unblendable. I tried everything; flat foundation brush, damp beauty blender, dry beauty blender-- even mixed Inglot Duraline with it one time, nothing worked!!! I still stare at it from time to time wondering what else I could have done with the $40 I purchased it with.
The MAC Studio Fix + is one of those items that was influenced by SM that I still can't get enough of!!! Its like the magic you didn't know was missing in your makeup. Yaaaaassssss!!! Its so amazing!!! And perfect for taking off that excess powdery look from your makeup. I usually use it before makeup application and after and for the price at N6,000, it really isn't a bad deal. Currently I'm using the Lavender scented one and I love it!!!!
I'm not one to buy brushes online, I usually like to see the brushes I'm buying first before buying them; which is a rule I intend to live by for the rest of my life after buying the Sigma 3D Kabuki Brush. This brush held so much promise that I dreamt of it till I could literally script my dreams on this brush into a mini play. When I first heard 3D I just couldn't wait to try its amazingness. The brush tip is triangular and while applying foundation the tip keeps swerving and rendering products in places you don't want it; for $24 I'll let the waste pass but never again.
I love the ABH Lipgloss and I'm looking forward to getting more shades; they are so pigmented and glossy and super blendable. My MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Gold Deposit is the most amazing bronzer that ever walked this earth and I have no regrets buying it. The ABH Artist Palette is still in my unsure tray because I don't know if I like the shades in it or because not all the colors are as pigmented as one will expect with all the rave about it.

Please take note that I'm not throwing shades about any particular brand but giving my honest to God opinion about the stuff I had. Also take not that this is NOT a sponsored post as all items were purchased with my hard earned money.

I usually buy makeup after reading reviews or sometimes on impulse and this is just a way of educating a few of you on how to build your kit gradually. I buy makeup in batches and so I'll have another batch of SM made me buy products real soon.

Have you bought any Social Media influenced purchases? What are they? Please share them and why they didn't pan out for you in the comment box below.

Till my next post....
